About the musical:
Matchgirl is a one-act musical premiered in 2019 by SPIN Theatre in Decorah, IA. A collaborative project between Andrew Tiede, Matt Espey, and John Kuntz, it is an adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Match Seller from short story to musical. This project was support by Luther through the Summer research grant where music creation was the primary focus.
The selected pieces are drawn from a concert staging of the entire musical performed live.
